Generations

The last couple weeks have been busy for us. My surgery was 2 weeks ago, and then last week Speck and I took a road trip with my FIL to visit the great-grandparents for a few days. It just so happened we were there on great-grandad's 88th birthday, so that was cool...he is a popular guy! Their phone rang all day long with birthday greetings for him.

Speck enjoyed the visit very much. The great-grandparents have several acres with lots green growing things, which Speck loves. One of his favorite activities is to run around holding pine cones. Why? Who knows. But if you hand him a couple, he grins hugely and takes off. He has a similar reaction to leaves or blades of grass.

During our visit he also discovered the joys of trucks and lawn tractors. He spent many happy moments toddling around great-grandad's truck bed, banging on the tool box. Later on, his grandad took him for a ride on the tractor. My FIL found it interesting to compare Speck's reaction to his cousin's; when my nephew gets to ride, he just wants to go-go-go, but Speck spends the whole time pointing and jabbering, wanting to stop every few feet and check something out.
