U R Hott

Spencer enjoying hot sauce on his holiday ham. Seriously. He actually liked it and asked for it again on the leftovers.
He liked pumpkin pie too, or at least I thought he did, until he pointed at the cool whip container and called that pumpkin pie. Daily laughs served here, along with big plates of humble pie.

Here is a pic of his shoes, taken by him when he was supposed to be playing a shapes game on my phone.

Family Hike

As you can see, Shane is now completely domesticated and with all due respect to Jagger and Richards, he is now my beast of burden. Love ya babe!

iPhone Love

I'm hoping to keep Speck's World slightly more up to date in the future with my nifty app.

Theology

Yesterday in church waiting for the service to start, Spencer said 'tell me who Jesus is?' This is a common conversational tactic of his by the way; he will ask repeatedly about a name or object he has heard us discussing.
Anyway, I looked at Shane, who stuck his nose in the hymnal and feigned deafness. So I tried to come up with a 2-minute gospel story for a 3 year old, and in that I mentioned that Jesus died in our place. Spencer said 'in our place?' When I said yes he looked puzzled and patted our chairs, saying 'this is our place!' Then it dawned on me that he thought I meant in our usual seats at church. So I guess we have some more work to do on those concepts. Last week when we had McDs for lunch he seemed to think that if we asked nicely Jesus would make us some more burgers and fries like he did with the loaves and fishes. So I will keep trying...

The Days Are Long...

...But the years (and months) are short. It seems I never sit down at the PC anymore. I spend all day fetching the baby out of Spencer's room (or the kitchen, or the bathroom, or the trash can) and saying "No, no, Cameron." Maybe it's just cuz she is more mobile at an earlier age, but I don't recall Spencer being quite such an agent of chaos.
Cam is very very mobile now, though still not walking. I'm sure it won't be long; she does occasionally let go while standing, and then sits down suddenly when she thinks about it. It's a bit like watching Wile E. Coyote walk off a cliff and then plummet.
I finally took Spencer trick or treating. In the past I didn't bother, since he wasn't interested and I wasn't really either. But this year he was old enough to enjoy it, and we both had fun. I took him to a 'trunk or treat' at his grandparents' church (thanks mom n dad!) and we also visited a few neighbors. He got a big thrill out of helping me pass out candy once we got back home.
That's the summary for the missing month of October; stay tuned for a report on November.
