Soul Food

Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O Lord, God of hosts. (Jeremiah 15:16 ESV)

Mawwage

Whatever else marriage is or encompasses, it isn't primarily about us or our ideas of love and romance. Like all of creation, it is a picture that shows us something about our Creator. Who He is, how He loves.

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. (Ephesians 5:31, 32 ESV)

Esteem

People matter, not because of what they do or contribute, but because of what they are. Simply and for no other reason than they exist as persons made by God's hand and in His image. Mere humanity is infinitely valuable.
We commodify each other and use one another and view children as liabilities. What a great evil. What a sad confirmation of our fallen-ness.

This is How

Abide with me;
fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens;
Lord, with me abide;
When other helpers fail
and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless,
abide with me.

Swift to its close
ebbs out life’s little day;
Earth’s joys grow dim,
its glories pass away;
Change and decay
in all around I see—
O Thou who changest not,
abide with me.

I need Thy presence
every passing hour;
What but Thy grace
can foil the tempter’s pow’r?
Who, like Thyself,
my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine,
Lord, abide with me.

I fear no foe,
with Thee at hand to bless;
Ills have no weight,
tears lose their bitterness;
Where is death’s sting?
Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still,
abide with me.

Hold Thou Thy cross
before my closing eyes;
Shine through the gloom
and point me to the skies;
Heav’n’s morning breaks,
and earth’s vain shadows flee;
In life, in death,
O Lord, abide with me.

Questions

I love the bare honesty of the Psalms. Those who blindly declare 'you shouldn't question God' have not really read their bibles.

How long, O Lord ? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me? Consider and answer me, O Lord my God; light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death, (Psalm 13:1-3 ESV)

What You Need

Praying that I (and you, Dear Reader) will experience God's ever-present abundant grace in 2014 and live boldly, in peace and purpose, knowing that we serve a trustworthy Lord. Let us plant with the harvest in mind, and trust God to supply all that is needed. We are not left to ourselves, weak and alone and hopelessly inadequate. God will ensure a harvest of righteousness.
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. As it is written, “He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.” He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.
(2 Corinthians 9:8-11 ESV)
